Andrea's Story
When I was twelve, the boy I had a crush on began making fun of the way I said “purple.” I was not aware, until that moment, that I did not pronounce the “r” sound correctly. It took me more than a year to train myself to produce "r" correctly by listening to adults, watching their mouths and imitating what I heard. I became highly motivated by embarrassment and self consciousness. This is one reason I am a speech therapist today. No child should have to feel embarrassed to speak or be difficult to understand if there is a solution available. Play-Based Therapy
We offer speech and language therapy for the very young child through interactive play activities. Early identification and treatment is key to communication success by building foundational language skills for children who are delayed or at risk for delay due to medical diagnoses.
